Ellis Mill

Ellis Mill is Lincoln’s last working windmill.

Facing eastward and overlooking the Lincoln Edge, this 3 storey windmill dates back to 1798 and was restored to full working order in 1977. It now stands in all its glory, the only survivor of 9 tower windmills that once dominated this landscape.

Ellis Mill is maintained and staffed by a group of dedicated volunteers, and is open at weekends during the summer months and on Sundays during wintertime.

There are very interesting guided tours around the working mill and if you visit on a windy day, you’ll be able to see flour being ground!

Visiting Ellis Mill is an excellent way to spend an hour or so.

Location

Ellis Mill is located between rows of terraced houses – keep the faith as you walk down Mill Road. It’s only a 60 seconds walk away, but you won’t see the mill until you are in front of it!
