Station Platforms

Station platforms are numbered from 1 through 5.

  • Platforms 1 and 2 are bay platforms and serve the east, Peterborough and occasionally the towns of Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
  • Platform 3 is the nearest platform to the entrance. It serves all arrivals. It is also sometimes used for eastbound services originating from Lincoln.
  • Platform 4 serves arriving trains from the east. It is also used for westbound departures to Leicester through Nottingham. Trains going to Newark-on-Trent (Newark Castle and Newark North Gate) and Nottingham use this platform as well. Platform 4 is also being used for attaching and detaching carriages.
  • Platform 5 serves the same purpose as Platform 4 except the Newark-on-Trent and Nottingham service. This platform is commonly used for westbound trains. However, these westbound trains have to wait in Lincoln before departing and that’s why it is mostly used by many Northern Rail services.

More About Lincoln Train Station

One of the best ways to travel is by train. Almost all cities and towns use trains to go in and around the city and nearby towns.

Most people also find riding on train less expensive and even safer. The Lincoln Central Railway Station is the only station in Lincoln after the Lincoln St Marks station was closed in 1985.

The building where the terminal is housed has a café and restrooms for passengers awaiting their trip. It was designed by J H Taylor in 1848 for the Great Northern Railway.

The station uses the Plus Bus scheme wherein passengers can purchase both train and bus tickets together.

The Lincoln Train Station is owned by Network Rail and currently managed by East Midland Trains or EMT. The station code is LCN and has 5 platforms. In December 2008, East Midland Trains started running daily service between Lincoln Central and London St Pancras through Nottingham.
